If you’re anything like the rest of the world, you’ve been geeked ever since photos leaked of Janet Jackson’s return to music. The iconic performer then followed up with a new single and a new tour, which kicked off last night.
Beginning her Unbreakable tour on Monday night in Vancouver, the show-stopping performer returned to the stage with a very emotional standing ovation. Fighting back tears, the Grammy Award-winning artist thanked the crowd “so very much” for their unwavering support through the years before getting into her arsenal of songs.
Hits like "Anytime," "Anyplace" and "Scream," featuring her brother, the late King of Pop. The famous duet with the two was a crowd favorite, causing Janet to take a moment to compose herself. Jackson also premiered some new music with veteran rapper/singer/producer Missy Elliott. The new song, "Burn It Up,” is expected to appear on Janet’s forthcoming album, Unbreakable.
Missy showed support for Janet’s return via Twitter wishing the timeless performer good luck. She also tweeted about their new single calling it a "club banger.”
Jackson also performed her new smash, "No Sleeep," and "Unbreakable" for the excited fans. Friend and longtime producer Jimmy Jam told Entertainment Weekly that the new album “is totally different from any of her other albums. But it feels like her.”
