Lupe Fiasco is working on a follow-up to eight-year-old album The Cool, he announced on Twitter over the weekend. Naturally, the Chicago lyricist isn’t answering questions about the new project, and he's asking fans to “be patient."
Fiasco’s 2007 sophomore album debuted as the No. 1 rap release on Billboard for nine weeks, and earned four Grammy nods.
The Cool 2 could potentially continue the storyline from its predecessor. Fiasco revealed the concept to MTV News last year. “If you follow the story of The Cool, he has a daughter and that’s who he was going to go see,” he said. “It leaves off with him being on the train and getting robbed.”
He could’ve scrapped that idea by now, so we’ll have to wait until The Cool 2 drops to hear how it unfolds.
