While crickets may not be the first thing flying off of the shelves at Whole Foods stores across America right now, those quick to write off eating the insect may want to reconsider. It appears as though Nas has.

As reported, Nas has recently joined an investment round for a startup company that makes protein bars with quite the special ingredient: cricket flour.

Crickets are overall a healthy snack, serving as an excellent source of protein and also having double the amount of iron as spinach. People eat crickets all over the world, which is something that Nas and Exo Protein are looking to popularize in the U.S.

The other investors in the product joining the Queens rapper include AccelFood and The Collaborative Fund.

The company currently sells its line of protein bars online, along with shirts that say “Crickets Are the New Kale.”

So, anyone hungry? is your No. 1 source for Black celebrity news, photos, exclusive videos and all the latest in the world of hip hop and R&B music.
