"Joy to All" is the theme of Christmas at the White House this year, but Bo Obama is the star of the holiday decorations.

First Lady Michelle Obama welcomed military families Wednesday to view the official Christmas tree, a giant gingerbread house, featuring a gingerbread statue of Bo, and everything else that glitters at this time of the year, including 40 "Bo-flake" ornaments hanging on trees throughout the White House.

"That basically represents Bo's standing in the house," Obama said of the first pet's cookie replica. "He is such a big personality."

There also are 54 live Christmas trees decorated in different themes, which includes tributes to fallen soldiers and previous first ladies. The biggest tree, an 18-foot-6-inch Fraser fir, features decorations handmade by children whose parents are stationed on military bases around the world.

“This is one big, huge thank you,” Obama said. “I have said this many times before, and I will say it again, because I can’t say it enough – our military families truly represent the very best that this country has to offer. And I’ve seen it up close. You all do so much for this country, and you do it with such amazing poise and grace.”

More than 90,000 visitors are expected to pass through the White House during the holiday season.
