Hackers Tweet "Obama Injured" From AP Account

A false report tweeted by hackers claiming President Obama was injured in explosions sends the Dow falling.

Hackers sent out a false report using the Associated Press' Twitter account on Tuesday that stated there'd been two explosions at the White House and that President Obama was injured. According to the AP, the attack on its Twitter and mobile Twitter accounts "was preceded by phishing attempts on AP's corporate network."

"I can say that the president is fine," White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters during Tuesday's daily briefing. "I was just with him."

The tweet sent the markets crashing, at least temporarily. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell about 143 points before rebounding.

The AP has disabled its accounts and is working with Twitter to investigate the incident, the newswire reports. But hackers seem to be on a mission. Last weekend the social media accounts for CBS News' 60 Minutes and 48 Hours also were compromised.
