Suspect Faces 20 Charges in New Orleans Mother's Day Parade Shooting
A suspect who opened fire at a Mother's Day parade in New Orleans, wounding 19 people, now faces 20 charges of attempted second-degree murder according to jail records obtained by the Associated Press.
Akein Scott, 19, was arrested and brought into custody Wednesday night.
He was identified in several camera images by police who viewed blurry surveillance footage of the mass shooting. He was announced as the suspected shooter late Monday.
The teen has a record of previous arrests for firearms and drug charges.
Police will be revealing further information on the case Thursday.
