Khalise Weatherspoon, 4, is recovering after being shot in the stomach in front of her Chicago home on Monday night.

As Khalise was riding her scooter, two men stepped out of a nearby alley and shot toward other men on a nearby porch, according to NBC News. One bullet struck her in the abdomen and another hit a man in the buttocks.

Chicago police say they are close to arresting a suspect in the shooting.

NBC News reports

"It's moving very very well, we're getting a lot of cooperation from the family and from individuals on the street, witnesses," Chicago Police superintendent Garry McCarthy said.

Weatherspoon was shot in the abdomen area and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital by a neighbor. She was listed in good condition on Tuesday and family members say she's in good spirits, walking, and may come home this week. Doctors say the bullet missed her spine and all of her vital organs.
