An Ohio police officer named Lee Cyr has been fired after allegedly taking to Facebook to celebrate the suicide of the Black Lives Matter activist MarShawn McCarrel.
Cyr was reportedly let go after an investigation revealed he posted a comment just two days after McCarrel shot himself outside the Ohio Statehouse, saying, “Love a happy ending.”
Police say that despite the fact that Cyr was off duty when he posted the despicable comment, his action violate the departments social media policy, which gave them the ability to terminate his position.
McCarrel was an incredibly passionate activist, who helped organize protests in his home state of Ohio following the cop killing of Michael Brown. He continued to give back to the community by founding youth programs aimed at assisting Ohio's homeless.
