It didn’t take long for Rebecca Montano to spring into action and grab the baby.

Rebecca Montano is a hero. But she insists rescuing a baby, whose mother was having a seizure, was purely a “motherly instinct.”

“I’m a mother, I’m a grandmother. It’s motherly instinct to worry about children.” The Colorado store clerk told local news WDTN about the incident that unfolded while she was working the cash register at a local convenience store.

“I just wanted to save the baby from getting hurt,” Montano added. “If she would’ve fallen with the baby in her arms, who knows where the baby would’ve landed?”

Her instincts proved to be strong when she immediately felt something wasn’t right when the woman, carrying her baby, approached the store’s counter to check out.

“I was talking to the baby and (the mother) had a glazed look on her face. I wasn’t sure, I felt uneasy about it,” Montano recalled. “I was asking her, ‘Is everything OK?’ I grabbed the baby’s arm and she started to sway, she wouldn’t answer me.”

Moments after Montano was able to grab the baby, the mother’s seizure kicked in full gear knocking her to the floor before another customer rushed to get medical help.

The mother and baby are both doing OK after this scare.
