Before you get lit at the fucntion this weekend, you may want to read Alexia LaFata's warning. The a 22-year-old college grad recently recounted the time that a "vigorous hookup" with a classmate turned into a horrific search for a tampon she had lost inside herself.  She ended up having to go to the emergency room where a doctor had to dig deep to find the lost feminine hygiene product.

As Alexia remembers it, she had put the tampon in at around 9pm before she went to her crush’s house. While she admits the hookup got pretty sexual, the two did not actually have sex. We'll let you use your imaginations to figure out what went down.

The next morning, she remembered she never took out her tampon before the hookup. As she attempted to pull it out, it was nowhere to be found. At first she wasn’t too concerned, “I’ve accidentally left tampons in for a long time before. Hell, I’ve even hooked up with guys with a tampon in before. This was just another day in the life of a girl who likes boys and also gets a period."
She continues, "But then I didn’t feel a string.”

Rather than suffer the embarassment of calling the guy to see if the tampon fell out in his sheets, she opted to go to the hospital.

After an undoubtedly uncomfortable and embarrassing exam, the doctor pulled out a “mummified tampon” that he said had been pushed up “all the way at your cervix, and the string was pretty tightly wrapped around the cotton.” The doc added, “You must have been going at it really vigorously.”

In the end, Alexia was fine. And the guy? He never called again.
