Tennessee Dad Arrested for Killing Namesake Son

Daryl Lauderdale Sr. was charged with first-degree murder.

Police are investigating what drove Daryl Lauderdale Sr. to kill his son.

The Tennessee man allegedly got into an argument with his 28-year-old son, Daryl Lauderdale Jr., on Sunday inside his home. Their disagreement reportedly ended outside on the 55-year-old man’s driveway with one fatal gunshot to his son’s chest.

Shots were fired just before 4 p.m. on Sunday with Lauderdale Jr. dying at the scene. The weapon, a .38-caliber gun, was later recovered and police reported that Lauderdale Sr. admitted to shooting his son.

Authorities have yet to identify a motive and Lauderdale Sr. is currently at Sumner County Jail without bond.

“Obviously we’ll be looking for any evidence of a physical confrontation as opposed to just an argument that occurred,” Gallatin Police Sgt. Bill Storment said.
