That escalated as quickly as you'd expect.

As the iconic New York song goes, “If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere.” Well, Ted Cruz may have to rethink his options after a visit to the Bronx went terribly wrong.

The GOP candidate arrived in the Bronx on Wednesday in order to sway potential voters from casting a ballot for Trump. While making a stop at a restaurant, Cruz was faced with many hecklers and protesters.

While speaking with media outlets, one man who claimed to be part of the “Latin hip-hop duo called Rebel Diaz,” began shouting at the candidate. He interrupted Cruz by yelling, “Ted Cruz has no business being in the Bronx! This is an immigrant community. We deal with climate change every single day and he wants to say that it doesn't exist.”

The protester continued to get in the face of Cruz, calling him a “right wing bigot” and saying, “He’s a racist that represents the white supremacy.” Outside of the restaurant, other protesters continued yelling at the presidential hopeful, proving that his welcome would be short-lived.

Later on, it became publicly known that Cruz’s scheduled visit to Bronx Lighthouse College Preparatory Academy would be canceled due to student protests. The principal of the school was informed that if Cruz visited the school, then the students would organize a walkout demonstration.

One student commented, “Most of us are immigrants or come from immigrant backgrounds. Ted Cruz goes against everything our school stands for.”

These reactions to his presence should honestly come as no surprise to the candidate. He did after all use the term “New York values,” as an insult when speaking about his opponent Donald Trump.

Well, it looks like Cruz is getting a big taste of New York values and doesn’t seem to be enjoying it.
