Mother's Day for one Kentucky child will never be the same after a tragic shooting claimed the life of his mother, Angelina Pressley. The eight-year-old had to watch as his mother's body was hit with multiple bullets at point blank range.

The seemingly random act of violence took place at around 2:50am on Sunday at Cooper Creek Village Apartments in Louisville. Now, her family is searching for answers.

After gunshots were heard, a neighbor ran to the parking lot to comfort the young boy. "I was like, 'You just got to breath,'" Brandy Gregory told WLKY. Pressley died at the hospital shortly after.

Louisville Police Detective Todd Kessinger told reporters that the little boy's comments to officers about his mother's murder were heartbreaking. "He said that his favorite thing in the world to do was to spend time with his mother, and he was exceptionally excited that night because he had bought her a necklace that he planned to give her on Mother's Day," Kessinger said. "Unfortunately, somebody came and shot her right in front of him and he never had the opportunity to giver her that necklace."

Kessinger then pleaded to the community to come forward if they witnessed the shooting, or if they have any information that could help with catching the criminals that killed Pressley.

The young boy is now in the care of other family members. Police have made no arrests, and named no suspects. The motive is still entirely unknown.
