Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has taken to his Twitter account today (August 27) to once again hit a new low point, offering his commentary regarding the recent loss of an innocent Black woman’s life.
Yesterday (August 26) Dwyane Wade’s cousin, Nykea Aldridge, a 32-year-old mother of four, was fatally shot when she was caught in the crossfire of an incident involving two men, all while she was pushing a stroller with one of her children.
The tragic event took place in Chicago, and as Wade worded it, the incident was yet “another act of senseless gun violence,” where “4 kids lost their mom for NO REASON.”
Trump got wind of the incident and decided to attempt to use the situation to his advantage by way of trying to win over the Black vote.
“Dwayne Wade’s cousin was just shot and killed walking her baby in Chicago,” Trump wrote, misspelling Wade’s first name. “Just what I have been saying. African-Americans will VOTE TRUMP.”
The tweet has since had people fuming online and for good reason. Not only is Trump’s tweet highly insensitive but there’s no chance in hell he’s going to win over any votes in his transparent attempt to capitalize on a tragedy.
Take a look below at some of the outraged tweets in reaction to the latest example of Trump’s disgusting and blatant disregard for Black lives.
My cousin was killed today in Chicago. Another act of senseless gun violence. 4 kids lost their mom for NO REASON. Unreal. #EnoughIsEnough— DWade (@DwyaneWade) August 27, 2016

There's nothing more horrifying than a presidential candidate patting himself on the back after someone is killed. https://t.co/TrrmEl0zpw— Josh Jordan (@NumbersMuncher) August 27, 2016
All politicians are shameless opportunists, but it's stories like Dwyane Wade's cousin being shot that gets Trump out of bed with a smile.— Josh Jordan (@NumbersMuncher) August 27, 2016

Trump after @DwyaneWade's cousin shot: I WAS RIGHT!
Utter lack of empathy.
Trump still doesn't get it. Also don't think Wade will appreciate this. At all. https://t.co/26skxcSDem— Petey RobLowe (@jteeDC) August 27, 2016

Dems: Tragic, and it's guns
GOP: Tragic, but it's culture
Trump: This is what I've been tellin' those blacks. I'm awesome.
if you’re gonna take advantage of his cousin’s death, you might as well spell the name right.— Sam Stein (@samsteinhp) August 27, 2016
