While investigating the scene of an accident, Miami Police found a two-month-old baby with two parents who appeared “incoherent.”

When Miami Fire and Rescue teams arrived at the accident, the mother was waiting outside of the car with the baby who was still strapped in the car seat. The man in the driver’s seat was completely unconscious and both parents appeared to under the influence of drugs or alcohol, said Lt. Freddie Cruz

Both the mother and father were transported to the hospital in stable condition and did not appear to have any injuries. Meanwhile, the baby was taken to a Miami fire station and examined. The baby’s godfather was notified of the accident and went to the fire station. While at the station, the godfather told reporters the baby’s name is Elizabeth Ashantay.

Neither the mother nor the father have revealed their identity and refuse to speak with medial outlets.

Elizabeth Ashantay will be held in custody of the Florida Department of Children and Families until a dependency hearing on Wednesday. Officials from the Department confirmed the baby is in good health and doing fine.

If officials discover that the parents were under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol at the time of the accident, both parents could face charges, said police.
