Tragedy struck this Georgia home yesterday (October 22) when a home invasion took place, taking the lives of two siblings, a 15-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl.
As reported, Daveon and Tatiyana Coates were home alone with several other children, and were shot dead after an unknown number of people entered the residence around 5am.
According to the report, another child inside the home called 911, with neighbors who heard the gunfire also being quick to contact authorities, and from there, the two minors were discovered and pronounced dead on the scene. The motive for the attack still remains unknown.
The children's parents are believed to have been out socializing at the time of the tragic incident.
Clayton County Police Chief Michael Register described the situation as both "tragic" and "senseless."
One neighbor went on to state that this is the first time a violent incident has occurred in this area to her knowledge, referring to the neighborhood as typically quiet.
"In this day and age, anything is possible," neighbor Joy Shilengay shared with reporters. "People don't care."
At this time, there are no suspects in custody, with police investigating several leads.
