Last week, 27-year-old Alexandra Elle was disheartened when her daughter Charleigh called her after school crying.
“Mama, kids were bullying me on the bus," 8-year-old Charleigh told her mother.
Charleigh explained that kids were teasing her because of her skin color, so Alexandra knew that she needed to step in.
Charleigh read the messages out loud and told herself, "I am beautiful and Black. I am smart. I am funny. I am vibrant. I am kind. I am honest. I am helpful. I am graceful. I am nice. I am proud to be brown. I am magical, unbreakable and confident.”
"Representation matters, and I am glad my kiddo and I could serve as an inspiration to so many,” Alexandra told BuzzFeed News.
