Look: 'Do the People a Favor and Resign,' People Are Dragging This Republican Official for Calling John Lewis a 'Racist Pig'

Here's how Tommy Hunter tried to backtrack from his disgusting comment.

  1. In a Facebook post (which has since been deleted), Tommy Hunter, The commissioner for Gwinnett County in Georgia, called Congressman John Lewis a 'racist pig'
  2. People immediately called the republican official out for his nasty comments and called for his resignation
  3. One neighboring resident sent a public message to the commissioner condemning his actions
  4. At a gwinnett commission meeting, protesters spoke out against Tommy Hunter
  5. After receiving much backlash, Hunter and his colleagues reportedly offered an apology to John Lewis

“While I am grateful for what the Congressman did in Selma and other times during the civil rights movement, you get respect by showing respect,” Hunter wrote in an apology message to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “He is using his fame as a way to continually divide the races and in this case standing on the very much unsubstantiated claim that the guy I voted for [Trump] is racist and only won because of Russians hacking the election — which, of course, we all know didn't occur.”

Lewis has not yet responded to Hunter's statements.
