'Name One Thing Frederick Douglass Did': People Go In on President Trump for His Un-Inspired and Ignorant Black History Month Speech

It's clear the president has no idea who the famous abolitionist was.

Throughout his campaign, President Trump has used a variety of phrases to convince the nation that nobody cares about the Black community more than he does. As someone who cares so much about the inner cities and the plight of the Black American, surely President Trump understands the importance of Black History Month and the prominent figures celebrated, right?

Oh, that statement could not be more wrong than if it was followed by the hashtag #alternativefacts.

During a Black History Month event on Wednesday morning, President Trump delivered a speech that honestly would have been better had it been written by a middle schooler currently studying Black history.

“I am very proud now that we have a museum on the National Mall where people can learn about Reverend King, so many other things. Frederick Douglass is an example of somebody who’s done an amazing job and is getting recognized more and more, I notice. Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, and millions more black Americans who made America what it is today. Big impact," the president offered before quickly moving on to bash CNN, praise Fox News and bring up Omarosa.

In review, the president described Frederick Douglass like he would describe a C-list celebrity on The Apprentice.

  1. The full transcript of the President's speech has been shared to twitter
  2. Immediately, many shared the horrific realization that Donald Trump has no idea what famous abolitionist and writer Frederick Douglass had accomplished
  3. And people could not hold back their disdain
