During the surprisingly warm Presidents Day holiday in New York City, seven young people decided to take a selfie on a frozen pond in Central Park. However, with the temperature in the 60s, the ice had melted and was not strong enough to hold all seven people.
After the ice broke and the group fell into the freezing water, two models happened to be skateboarding along the path close to the pond. Much to the surprise of the drowning group, these models would become life savers.
"The only thing you could see was the back zipper of his backpack," Jonas told NBC New York about one of the victims. "I grabbed his backpack not knowing if there was a body on it."
"The last two at the end, the kid at the end was unconscious," Turmbull said. "[Jonas] got him out, he was kind of out of breath, and [Jonas] threw him to me. I just kind of minded him until he came to."
