  1. A recent post made by Alanya Kolberg, a mother and investment educator, has everyone debating the idea of sharing

During a trip to the park, Kolberg watched as her son Carson was approached by other boys who repeatedly demanded he share his toys. When Kolberg noticed her son was overwhelmed, she told him that he could say no.

However, after Carson denied the other boys his toys, they ran to their parents and complained about Carson.

Kolberg remained firm in her belief, even though she received several dirty looks from other parents. The entire ordeal inspired her to pen a lengthy Facebook post about why Carson is not obligated to share.

"The goal is to teach our children how to function as adults. While I do know some adults who clearly never learned how to share as children," Kolberg wrote. "I know far more who don't know how to say no to people, or how to set boundaries, or how to practice self-care. Myself included."

  2. Kolberg's post quickly went viral and received over 600 comments
  3. Some did not completely agree with Kolberg's message and believe that sharing promotes social engagement
  4. However, the majority of the comments were in support of Kolberg
  5. In the end, Carson did end up sharing his toys with a little girl that he planned on meeting at the park
