People have come together to provide kind acts to the ones who need it most.

Over the past several days, the country has taken in the heartbreaking and tragic images from Tropical Strom Harvey. As the relief efforts in Texas and surrounding areas continue, many touching stories of people becoming unsung heroes have been shared. 

Whether they be professional responders, volunteers or regular people trying to uplift others, residents in Houston have put their best foot forward to aid others.

Here are some of the most inspiring people and moments from Houston. 

  1. Amaya Fields tweeted a tribute to her sister Chelsea Black, who is an ICU nurse and worked for three straight days helping victims of Harvey
  2. Several men helped an elderly woman whose car was stuck in rising water

  3. Joni Villemez-Comeaux captured the emotional moment a gospel chorus broke out in a shelter

  6. Furniture store owner Jim 'Mattress Mack' McIngvale opened his store to people in need of a place to stay
  7. A group of neighbors linked arms to make sure everyone made it through the water safely
