In life, there exists hypocrisies that are subtle, like telling someone it's unhealthy to smoke while you have a pack of Marlboro Lights stashed in your car. And then there are hypocrisies so severe they turn a Pennsylvania Congressman into a trending topic on Twitter.
According to a report in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Murphy, a leader of the pro-life movement, urged a woman whom he admitted to having an extramarital affair with to have an abortion when the two had a pregnancy scare.
The woman sent a text to Murphy calling him out for his actions.
"And you have zero issue posting your pro-life stance all over the place when you had no issue asking me to abort our unborn child just last week when we thought that was one of the options," Shannon Edwards wrote to Murphy on Jan. 25.
According to the report, Murphy texted in response, "I get what you say about my March for life messages. I've never written them. Staff does them. I read them and winced. I told staff don't write any more. I will."
