Viral Video Of Single Mom Dressing Up As Dad For "Daddy Day" At Daughter’s School Sparks Intense Debate

Some thought it was sweet and others found it problematic.

A debate has popped up over a mom who recently dressed up as dad for her daughter’s Dad and Doughnuts Day at school.

  • Wearing a fitted hat and applying a mustache and beard, the woman filled in for the young girl’s father for the day.

“It’s doughnut day for dads. I’m the daddy today baby!” she said via video she posted of the occasion. “I’m the daddy everyday. Who you kidding? Happy Daddy Day.”

It’s unclear what the status is of the father, which caused debate amongst commenters of a ShadeRoom post of her video. Some found the gesture to be sweet while others found it troubling, especially if the father was actually in the young girl’s life.

“Luv it! There’s nothing we single mothers won’t do for our kids. Believe that baby!” someone wrote, while others dissented. “The only way this justifies her doing this is that either if the dad didn't want to go or the father is dead but if she did this and didn't tell the dad because she thinks she's more of the dad than the real father then yeah that's stupid but who knows the truth all we can do is speculate but I mean to her to go all out like that can only really mean her doing something petty but just my opinion.”

This isn’t the first time a mom went viral for playing dad during one of these types of events. Earlier this year, a Texas mom did the same thing for her son and dressed pretty similarly, ball cap and all.
