Young Mom Accused Of Throwing Three-Week-Old Son At His Father's Feet During An Argument, Fracturing The Baby's Skull

Heidy Rios first denied holding the child then said she "may have dropped" him.

A young mother in Terrytown, Louisiana, was arrested Friday after allegedly hurling her three-week-old son at the boy’s father during an argument, which resulted in the baby suffering a fractured skull.

Heidy Rios, 24, was booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in Gretna, reported NOLA.com.

According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place on Thanksgiving when Riot and her boyfriend, the infant's father, were engaged in a heated argument. The infant's father, who remains unidentified, told detectives Rios grabbed their son during the fight, threw the baby at his feet and said, "Take your f**king son.”

The baby’s father took the child to a Children's Hospital in New Orleans for treatment and doctors determined the 26-day-old boy had a fracture of his right temporal bone, according to the arrest report.

Physicians contacted the Sheriff's Office to investigate the injury.

During initial questioning on Friday, Rios denied ever holding the baby during the argument and told investigators she had no idea how her son was hurt, the report said. However, when a “neutral” witness confirmed Rios was holding the baby, the mother changed her story.

She then told detectives she "may have dropped the child" during the dispute, the report said.

No condition information was available for the infant. But the boy's injuries weren't life-threatening, according to Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office Spokesman Lt. Jason Rivarde.
