The white woman who slapped a police officer at a University of Miami football game while she was being taken out of the stadium could have the charges dropped and her slate wiped clean if she completes the daunting task of writing an apology letter.

According to the Miami Herald, Bridget Freitas, 30, faces charges of disorderly conduct and battery on a law enforcement officer. however, if she pens the apology to Miami-Dade police officer Douglas Ross and completes 50 hours of community service work, she’ll get off with no charges on her record.

Freitas was also instructed to pay over $100 to cover the cost of prosecution.

The officer, who was recorded punching Freitas after the slap, was cleared last week of any wrongdoing.

  1. A cellphone video of Freitas quickly went viral and sparked a debate on police brutality
  2. However, the 30-year-old's easy punishment later started a debate on inequalities in the justice system
  3. Some were not surprised by the slap on the wrist freitas received
