A staffer at a regional Housing and Urban Development office for New York and New Jersey was at the center of much criticism after engaging in a heated Twitter battle with White House correspondent April Ryan on Twitter and calling her "Miss Piggy."

The showdown started after Ryan appeared on CNN and detailed the death threats she says she and other reporters have received as a result of the president’s attacks on the press.

Patton, who planned Eric Trump's wedding and had no political experience before taking her job at HUD, spoke out against Ryan's allegations on Twitter.

“As a conservative black female who has publicly worked for & supported @realDonaldTrump, I’ve been getting death threats from fellow minorities on the left for the past 3 years — so welcome to the club. @AprilDRyan,” she wrote.

A brief back-and-forth occurred between the two until Patton tweeted, “I hear #MissPiggys still on a rampage. Gee, I must’ve struck a nerve, @AprilDRyan! #BankruptBlogger.

  1. Although the tweet was deleted, both democratic and republican news commentators spoke out against Patton's words
  2. Patton was dragged on Twitter for her below the belt remarks against Ryan
  3. Some even called for the HUD official to be fired
  4. Patton eventually apologized with a lengthy tweet and a promotional photo of herself speaking at the RNC
  5. Throughout the entire Twitter spat, Ryan remained classy and even dropped a perfect use of 'I don't know her'
