Although the Obamas do have a social media presence, it is rare that they directly respond to a tweet by an individual. However, Michelle Obama surprised a mother by retweeting and responding to an adorable picture of her daughter, who portrayed the former first lady for a school project.

For an open house project at her school, third grader Alexandra Dow dressed as Michelle Obama and presented the numerous reasons why she is incredibly inspired by the first Black first lady.

Audrey Dow, Alexandra's mother, took a picture of her nine-year-old in front of a tri-fold board representing the multiple stages of Obama's life.

  1. Audrey shared the photo of her daughter to Twitter

"Today my 9 year old was @MichelleObama for her 3rd grade Open House project. She was inspired by her work to make sure more kids go to college & #ReachHigher . She loves that Mrs Obama is brown & has hair like hers #ISawMyself," Audrey wrote.

  2. To Audrey's and Alexandra's surprise, Michelle Obama responded to the tweet and said the project deserves an 'A+'
  3. According to Audrey, the former first lady's tweet brought tears to Alexandra's eyes
