Activist, writer and Twitter influencer Shaun King recently tweeted a thread which revealed he and his family were detained by immigration agents at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York City.

  1. King said the incident occurred when his family returned from Cairo, Egypt
  2. The officer allegedly questioned King about his work as a leader in the Black Lives Matter movement
  3. King was able to contact his attorneys and was eventually released
  4. He also noted his experience was no different from what Muslims are forced to endure daily
  5. Many were shocked to hear of King's story and wondered if he is on a government watch list
  6. After receiving much support on Twitter, King provided an update
