School shootings have become so rampant in the United States that statistically, it’s more likely to be killed in American schools than in a U.S. combat zone overseas.
To help combat that, the obvious would be to restrict assault gun purchase, right? Nah, not in ‘Murica. The solution has so far been to just deal with it and implement an increase in active shooter drills in schools across the country. Oh and also, as capitalism finds a way to chip in, consumers can buy bulletproof school backpacks, and they are.
Bulletproof backpacks designed for children have existed for years, but as back-to-school shopping becomes more prevalent as the summer moves towards its end, so does the discussion of what to get children to be prepared for the classroom.
Unfortunately, prepping for school now isn’t only about academics. The whole thing has gotten so ridiculous that people have taken to social media to make their feelings about bulletproof backpacks, which are selling out online and in stores, and the helplessness they feel known.
You know how sad it is to open up a kid’s backpack to grab his lunch and see a bulletproof shield? He’s in PRESCHOOL. A preschooler should not have to be carrying this around in his backpack. Seeing this broke my heart pic.twitter.com/gKfU9s9TNO— gaia • (@infinitelesss) July 25, 2018
why do i have to buy a bulletproof backpack in order to protect myself when the law should've done that already?? https://t.co/RFEUh8Cm0t— maggie (@Iilgays) July 26, 2018

Don’t forget to pick up the Backpack Bulletproof Insert for your kids.
If you can afford it:
Why not a bulletproof vest?

Guess what I’m getting?
A god damn bullet proof backpack.
Wanna know why?
So I can throw it in front of me and my friends while I run from a gunman with an AR-15 in my school.
america’s so screwed up right now. can you imagine being a little kid, and seeing a commercial for the new coolest bulletproof backpack with all the best Disney characters on it. so sick— yesenia misses palaye royale- 87 (@clancysdema) July 26, 2018
Imagine trying to explain to your kid why they can’t have the backpack they wanted and having to get them a bulletproof backpack ... people suck 😕 https://t.co/7litiiAWnl— Aj Rubio (@AjRubio3) July 26, 2018
