Video Shows Beauty Shop Owner Punch A Black Mom After Her Toddler Took A Key Chain She Returned
A disturbing video recorded outside a beauty supply store in Tulsa, Oklahoma, shows the male owner of the store punch a Black mother in the face over a key chain.
In the viral clip, which was first posted on Monday, the owner of Jun’s Beauty Supply, identified by police as Changseok Jun, confronted the unidentified woman outside of his business. According to police, the woman was inside the store shopping and when she left, her young child pocketed a key chain without her knowing, reported Yahoo News.
Sergeant Shane Tuell of the Tulsa Police Department said the owner then followed the woman outside during the Sunday incident.
“Mr. Jun followed the victim outside to confront her, and she threw the item back inside the store, then pushed him in his upper torso as she was leaving,” Tuell told Yahoo. “Mr. Jun then punched the woman in the right side of her mouth with his closed fist.”
Jun was charged with assault and battery, a misdemeanor, and was ordered to appear in court on Sept. 12. A judge will rule on what happens next, but Tuell says possibilities include a fine or community service. The victim, whose name is not known, has the option to sue Jun.
The video resulted in much outrage online, especially considering this is the second viral video showing an Asian business owner violently attacking a Black patron. Last week, a nail salon technician was captured on video hitting Black women with brooms and throwing acetone on them.
