A Colorado man reportedly confessed to killing his pregnant wife and their two daughters after the body of the 34-year-old mother was discovered at his place of work.

Chris Watts is being held in the Weld County Jail on three counts of first-degree murder and three charges of tampering with physical evidence, reported the Associated Press.

A spokesman for the Frederick police department said investigators found the body of 34-year-old Shanann Watts, who was 15-weeks pregnant, three days after she was reported missing on Monday. Police also believe they know the location of the bodies of her two daughters, 3-year-old Celeste and 4-year-old Bella, which have yet to be found.

It remains unclear whether Watts will face charges with the death of his unborn child.  fate of his unborn child.

Shanann and her two daughters were reported missing Monday after she didn't show up for a doctor’s appointment and didn't answer her phone. After a friend notified police, they conducted a welfare check at Shanann’s home, where they found her cellphone, purse and keys.

While the FBI and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation conducted their search for the family, Chris Watts told reporters he was traumatized by the disappearance and was hoping for his family’s safe return.

He told The Denver Channel he wanted his wife and children back, adding they were “his life” and their “smiles light up my life.”

Hours later, police searched the Watts home and removed several bags of evidence.

Law enforcement officials told The Denver Channel that Watts had confessed to killing his family and cops believe they know where they can find the remains.

In his interview with The Denver Channel on Wednesday, the man said he had an “emotional conversation” with his wife the night before her disappearance, yet he did not go into detail.
