A Maryland man found his 29-year-old daughter dead in the basement of her home Wednesday, and police have ruled her death a homicide.

Jasmine Sherel Adams was found on the floor of her Anne Arundel County home. Immediately after her father discovered the body, he called 911, reported WBAL-TV.

"(She) appeared to be suffering from blunt trauma and was deceased on the ground in the basement. Her father had located her and called 911," Anne Arundel County police spokesman Marc Limansky told WBAL.

Although police have not named a suspect in the case, they do believe Adams was targeted. There were no signs of forced entry to the home, but police said they’ve been to the home before on incidents of domestic violence.

"There have been incidents in the past regarding domestic violence at that location, and certainly that's going to be a part of the investigation, but I can't go into details about possible suspects at this time," Limansky said.

Limansky did not say if the person involved in the domestic violence incidents is a suspect in Adams’ murder. The man involved in the disputes is the father of Adams’ 10-year-old twins; he has been in jail since July 25 on drug and weapons charges, police told WBAL.

The twins were not home at the time of the killing. Police are increasing patrols in the area as a precaution.

"We will have officers present in the area to help alleviate any fears other residents who live in the area are hearing about this. We want to make sure everybody feels OK and feels safe," Limansky said.

Police are waiting for autopsy results to determine a cause of death.
