A 4-year-old girl in Detroit was killed when her father took her and her 6-year-old sister on a late-night go-kart ride.
According to police, the father was driving the go-kart around 3a.m. on Wednesday when he lost control and crashed into a parked car, reported WDIV.
The girl's 29-year-old father, who remains unidentified, and the two girls were sent flying in the air upon collision. The 4-year-old, who was identified by her family as Autumn Young, was taken to a hospital, reported Fox 2.
She was pronounced dead from a blunt force trauma to the head.
Her father was taken to a hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and his surviving daughter sustained bruises that did not require hospitalization, according to a police detective.
On Wednesday afternoon, the father was discharged from the hospital and taken into the custody of the Detroit police.
A request for an arrest warrant will be submitted to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.
Autumn’s family has since launched a GoFundMe to help with her funeral expenses.
