An active-duty U.S. Army soldier and his mistress were arrested in Louisiana Sunday night after police received a tip that the couple was driving around with a dead woman’s body in the trunk.
According to the Associated Press, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office said someone reported that a woman was driving around Lake Charles with a body in her trunk and when they stopped a vehicle hours later they found 22-year-old Logan Kyle in the passenger seat of a car driven by 24-year-old Sarah Parker (above). Parker's 2-year-old and 1-year-old children were also in the back seats.
Kyle was transferred into the custody of the U.S. Criminal Investigation Division at Fort Polk. Parker has been charged with obstruction of justice and failure to report a homicide.
Sheriff Tony Mancuso told reporters that Kyle confessed to killing his wife at Fort Polk.
Officials believe he then met up with Parker and the two drove around the area looking for a place to dispose of Kyle's wife's body.
"In many cases, we don’t get a call until the body is actually found," said Mancuso, according to KATC-TV. "We actually got this one before it was dumped which made it easier."
Formal charges against Kyle have not yet been announced. Officials say more charges could be brought against Parker, whose children have been placed in state custody.
