Viral Story Of Man Choosing To Save Baby Over Wife Has People Asking Themselves What They’d Do

"I believe a woman should be able to make that decision ahead of time and put it in writing. Let the woman decide who lives or who dies."

When Frederick Connie's wife went into labor a month early, medical complications left him with a choice he never thought he'd have to make: should he choose to save the life of his wife or baby?

Now, his story has gone viral, and BET readers are sounding off as to what they'd do in that terrible situation.

While at home, Connie's wife, Keyvonne, began hemorrhaging. Once she was rushed to the hospital, doctors told him to choose when his wife has surgery.

“It was either give her the surgery first and maybe save her life, but you’re going to lose your daughter. Or your daughter can be saved but there’s a chance you might lose your wife,” Frederick Connie told KDVR.

Frederick said he chose the baby because he knew his wife would never forgive him had he chosen otherwise.

However, people on Facebook have started an intense debate about whether they would have done the same thing. Many people said there is no way they would have let their partner die.

"I would save my wife. Hands down," wrote Tonie on Facebook.

"Nah. Give me my wife! That's my girl! My homie! My patna! We can try this baby thing again but aint never getting another HER!!!!!" wrote Joe.

However, some respected Connie's decision to do what he thought was best.

"There still was the possibility that she would have died if he decided to save her instead of the child.. so what would had have if he saved his wife instead of his child and his wife died anyways. He would had lost both of them.... I feel for him it's not a easy decision," commented Orquidea.

The story had so many women thinking about what they would want to happen if they found themselves in a similar predicament.

"I believe a woman should be able to make that decision for herself, before it even gets to the difficult stage. Have this discussion with her husband ahead of time and put it in writing. Let the woman decide who lives or who dies," wrote Tracy.
