Today is a day to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.’s accomplishments and messages against hate and racial intolerance.
That said, many are using his message to push their own political agenda or prop up a man that was against everything those people stand for.
The White House is a good example of this. Not everyone from 45’s administration made a public statement on social media, but those who did got major backlash from the Twitterverse.
See some of the most epic clapbacks that put these fools out of the paint quickly.
You literally spent 90 seconds there and said nothing about MLK. That’s sad.— Ed Krassenstein (@EdKrassen) January 21, 2019
Let's keep progressing towards King's dream, not the dream of the man in the White House.— Brian Krassenstein (@krassenstein) January 21, 2019
You dishonor the memory of Dr. King with your very presence at his memorial.— BrooklynDad_Defiant! (@mmpadellan) January 21, 2019
The hatred you've stoked, and continue to stoke, cannot be erased with an empty photo op.
If you had an iota of decency, you'd be ashamed.
Donald, you just ended racism with this tweet. You're absolutely incredible.— Barry McCockiner (@SportsTalkBarry) January 21, 2019
Today, we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a great American leader whose faith & courage moved our Nation toward a more perfect union. Dr. King inspired a movement that changed the course of American history & his example inspires us still today. #MLKDay— Vice President Mike Pence (@VP) January 21, 2019
A PHOTO OP TRYING TO ACT LIKE YOU REALLY CARE ABOUT ANYTHING DR. KING STOOD FOR! WE ARE NOT GULLIBLE!!!— Mary E. Downs (@MaryEDowns1) January 21, 2019
Doctor King would be leading the protests against you if he was here today.— Colin Moore (@cmcabo97) January 21, 2019
Ookay.... But yet you openly condemn peaceful protests that are standing up equal rights today. You would have used your good book to condemn him 60 years ago if you were in power then too. Miss me with your bull crap Mikey.— Randy Stanley (@Randy_Scavenge) January 21, 2019
They don’t appear to inspire you, your wife, or this administration— Jim Lancaster (@thereck0ner) January 21, 2019
so why are you trying to undo everything he did? #alternativefacts— stacey shinske (@skunklet1771) January 21, 2019
And every day Donald Trump tries to erase his legacy by sowing division and encouraging his followers worst instincts.— Molly Jong-Fast (@MollyJongFast) January 21, 2019
He was killed. He was killed by the same type of people who continue to support Trump and attend his rallies with confederate flags and racist slogans. MLK Jr. didn’t give his life, his life was stolen. Shame on you for trying to spin that fact.— Sarah Wood (@sarahwoodwriter) January 21, 2019
Seriously? You honor him on the day dedicated to him and then disrespect his life and legacy the other 364 days— teacherhere (@SalasCsalas7979) January 21, 2019
Oh, Kellyanne - Remember.... #MLK was a BRIDGE BUILDER - not a Wall Builder.— WordontheStreet (@Write_Sense) January 21, 2019
"Bless Your Heart."
Just FYI Kellyanne Dr. King didn’t lie, he told the truth no matter how difficult it was to hear. But he did it with respect and resolve that you do not possess.— BOHICA (@williamelewis46) January 21, 2019
