After Chicago prosecutors dropped all 16 felony charges against Jussie Smollett in the alleged “staged” hate crime, Mayor Rahm Emanuel was quick to criticize the decision. However, many people have spoken out against the mayor saying he should be less concerned with Smollett and more focused on how he handles fatal instances of police brutality.

  1. In the hours following the announcement Tuesday, Emanuel appeared on CNN where he blasted the decision, saying it “makes no sense.”

“It makes no legal sense. It makes no common sense. And this is an abomination of my sense of justice,” Emanuel told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.

  2. On Wednesday, the mayor appeared on 'Good Morning America' where he continued to speak against Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office

“This looks like because he’s an actor, a person of influence, he got treated differently than anybody else,” the mayor said on ABC’s Good Morning America.

“You have the state’s attorney’s office saying he’s not exonerated, he actually did commit this hoax. He’s saying he’s innocent and his words are true — they better get their stories straight,” Emanuel said.

Many people who believe the mayor should focus his attention on a police department crippled by controversy called out Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s vocal disapproval of the prosecutors’ decision.

  3. The mayor's press run and heavy involvement in the case was criticized by many who wondered why he lacks this passion when Black men are killed by police
