Bobby Cutts Jr., was convicted on Feb. 15 of murdering 26-year-old Jessie Marie Davis and Chloe, the pre-named baby girl, was looking at a possible death sentence for his crimes.

"Bobby Cutts took my sister from me. You took a chunk out of my heart," Stephanie Davis said during the sentencing phase of the trial, reading from a letter she read for her cousin, Caylon Davis, Jessie's adopted brother, at a hearing before Stark County Common Pleas Judge Charles Brown Jr., The Associated Press reported.

Cutts, along with family members on both sides, had pleaded for the life of the former Canton , Ohio , patrolman.

"Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I'm asking you to spare my life," Cutts said, at one point during the trial as he wept profusely. Cutts said that he accidentally killed Davis when he threw an elbow to get away from her, striking her in the throat. He then loaded her body in his vehicle and dumped it in a park. He hid it from police for 10 days before ‘fessing up.

Blake, their 2-year-old son, slept in another room as the ordeal transpired.

"When I hear Blake cry, I hate you," Davis ' sister, Whitney Davis, said at the sentencing. She said his only regret was getting caught. "You have not lost someone. You got rid of someone who was an inconvenience for you." Blake told police, who arrived on the scene to investigate Davis ’ disappearance, "Mommy's in the rug."

Cutts, having had CPR and emergency response training, said he tried unsuccessfully to revive Davis , using rubbing alcohol and bleach as smelling salts. Cutts said as the tragic events unfolded he said, "This can't be happening. This is not real. This is a bad dream."
