Papa John’s Says Sorry For Calling James 'Crybaby'

Posted May 6, 2008 – Papa John’s pizza says sorry for calling James “crybaby” Cleveland Cavaliers fans can cry all the way to Papa John’s Pizza this week, thanks to a bad promotional decision.

Papa John’s printed T-shirts that Washington Wizards fans wore last week, bearing LeBron James’ jersey No. 23 with the word “crybaby” above it.  The move was in response to Wizards center Brendan Haywood calling James a “crybaby” after James complained about hard fouls.

Why Papa John’s, which is based in Kentucky, chose to instigate among Washington fans is a mystery; but the third-largest delivery chain in the U.S. has apologized.

To make up for the diss that did nothing to stop the Cavs from eliminating Washington in six games, Papa John’s is selling Cleveland residents large, one-topping pizzas for 23 cents on Thursday.

The company says it’s also donating $10,000 to the Cavaliers Youth Fund.
