A woman who lived out of her car until she pleaded with the president for help could lose the home she was provided.
Henrietta Hughes, of Florida, has sought work since meeting Barack Obama at a February town hall meeting, but remains unemployed.
After Hughes tearfully asked for Obama’s assistance, she was given a temporary home owned by Florida legislator Chene Thompson’s wife. The property in Lavelle, Fla. had been vacant since 2006, but may soon be sold. The Thompsons reportedly told Hughes that she would have to leave when they find a buyer for the property.
In her 60s, Hughes and her son say they’ve both worked hard at finding jobs. Nonetheless, the Thompsons say they won’t allow Hughes to be homeless again. The family advocates on behalf of the homeless and has said they will even go so far as assisting Hughes with her rent, if necessary.
