A 20-year-old Florida man threw a 4-month-old baby onto the interstate from the window of a speeding car Tuesday after snatching the boy following a fight with the infant’s mother, police said.

A passing motorist found the body of tiny Emanuel Murray on Interstate 275 in Hillsborough, Fla., at about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department said.

Anthony McTear Jr. has been charged with first-degree murder in the incident.

Police say that at about 3:15 a.m. they went to the home of 18-year-old Jasmine Bedwell, who told investigators that McTear beat her and threatened "to kill the both of y'all," the sheriff's department said in a statement. After the couple argued, Bedwell said, McTear threw a car seat containing the child across the room, causing the boy to fall onto the apartment's concrete floor. He then picked up the boy and drove off in his car, throwing the child out while on the interstate, according to the sheriff's department. The infant died of blunt trauma to the head, the autopsy report shows.

McTear, who is no kin to the child, according to sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter, is facing additional charges of burglary with battery, felony battery, aggravated child abuse and kidnapping according to the sheriff's department said.

When asked by reporters if he had thrown the child out of the car window, McTear answered, "It's a dirty game. A dirty game."
