Mother Charged with Moving and Leaving Son Behind

A mother in Georgia is charged with child neglect after moving and leaving her child behind.

Police say 23-year-old Precious Walker packed up her stuff and moved from Smyrna to Norcross on May 4 without her 7-year-old son, adding that she didn't even have contact with him for more than two weeks, reports CBS Atlanta.

Walker told the TV station that it didn't happen that way at all, and police are lying.  She said that she left her son in Smyrna with a friend so he could finish the school year there.

"I needed that help.  I really did need help.  My apartment got burned up, and I was trying to find another," Walker said.

One of Walker’s former neighbors, who didn't want to be identified, confirmed Walker's story, CBS Atlanta reported.

The boy is in protective custody.

“I'm just trying to get my lawyer and sue whomever I can sue," Walker said.
