NOLA Mayor Quarantined in China

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin has been quarantined in China after being exposed to the swine flu, CNN reports.

Nagin reportedly is in the Communist nation on a economic development trip. The plane in which he traveled apparently carried a passenger who was being treated for symptoms similar to those of a swine flu victim, Nagin’s office said in a statement. He has been quarantined in Shanghai, along with his wife and a member of his security detail.

"The mayor is being treated with utmost courtesy by Chinese officials," the statement said.

Nagin "exhibited the symptoms of H1N1" but no signs of illness, Ceeon Quiett, the mayor's director of communications, told CNN.

"We have talked with him and he is in good spirits." She said it was not clear how long the quarantine would last.
