Vandals Attack U.S. Rep. David Scott's Office With Swastika

Published August 12, 2009

The hometown office of U.S. Rep. David Scott (D. - Ga.), a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, has been vandalized with a swastika.

Scott has been in the news over the last week for raising his voice at a constituent he accused of disrupting pressing a local town hall he held in Georgia over the weekend.

“This is unfortunate, says Rep. Scott. “I just feel very bad about it – I really feel bad about the person who did it.

Scott’s spokeswoman Jennifer Wright says the FBI and local police have been informed about the four-foot Nazi symbol painted in black on the outside of the office in Smyrna, Ga.

Bill Nigut, Southeast Regional Director of the Anti-Defamation League says, "We assured Congressman Scott we will work with local law enforcement to catch the perpetrator of the vandalism at his office, and will continue to speak out loudly and often against the hateful rhetoric he and other member members of Congress are now being subjected to."
