Herman Cain has released a campaign video ad that has some people scratching their heads. It may to some seem kind of artsy and to others just plain weird. The video features campaign chief of staff Mark Block standing outside of a building delivering an endorsement of the candidate and urging others to get involved in the campaign.
"I really believe that Herman Cain will put 'united' back in the United States of America, and if I didn't believe that, I wouldn't be here," he said.
That may seem pretty standard, except for the fact that Block is smoking a cigarette, which he exhales in a thin stream at the end of the video, which then pans to a shot of Cain, grinning like the Cheshire cat. All of this is done to the tune of a woman singing, “I am America.”
The ad doesn’t appear on Cain’s official campaign Web site, but the campaign confirmed to CNN that it’s not a hoax.
“We’ve run a campaign like nobody’s ever seen before,” Block says in the video, adding that there’s never been a candidate like Cain before. Or ads like this. And, whatever anyone may think about the ad, it’s definitely one of the day’s hot news topics.
Stayed tuned for the American Cancer Society's thoughts on the new ad.
