Football fans won’t be seeing commissioner Roger Goodell walk across the Radio City Music Hall stage in New York City for the 2015 NFL Draft.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Thursday afternoon that the famed venue informed the league that it won’t be available next April or May to host next year's draft. According to Rapoport and confirmed by the NFL, that leaves Los Angeles and Chicago as possible 2015 NFL Draft hosts unless the league can keep it in New York City at Madison Square Garden.
“LA, Chicago and NY (MSG) are finalists to host 2015 NFL Draft. Why? Radio City informed @NFL that it will NOT be available in April or May,” Rapoport tweeted Thursday. “The @NFL is focusing on availability for two possible events dates with 3 cities: April 22-25 and April 29-May 2. The 2 blocks proposed for the 2015 NFL Draft are 4 nights, which the league is considering. April 22-25 & April 29-May 2 are Wed-Saturday.”
As if the NFL Draft isn’t big enough, NBC’s ProFootballTalk.com added that: “One of the requirements the league has laid down for the potential hosts is that they need to have space for a fan festival in a space adjacent to the actual draft.”
NFL.com also added that other cities remain in the mix as well, although they weren’t named as of yet.
