Prosecutors Request Adrian Peterson's Arrest for Marijuana Admission

Paperwork filed to revoke Vikings rusher's bail.

Published October 10, 2014

Adrian Peterson has been free on $15,000 bond for nearly a month since first turning himself in on child-abuse charges.

But now, according to ESPN, prosecutors in Montgomery County, Texas, have filed paperwork to have the Minnesota Vikings' running back's bail revoked and have Peterson re-arrested after he admitted during a urine test Wednesday to have "smoked a little weed."

"In light of this statement, and the fact that it was made during the urinalysis testing process, and the term 'weed' is a common slang term for marijuana, the state argues that the defendant has smoked marijuana while on bond," the district attorney's office wrote, as reported by ESPN.

Prosecutors' motion for a re-arrest can't happen until a judge's hearing is held and the earliest that can happen is next week. Meanwhile, Dec. 1 holds as the tentative date that he stands trial on felony child abuse charges.

Peterson has been on the NFL's exempt list since Sept. 17, barring him from all team activities.
