Add Yoenis Cespedes to the growing roster of athletes represented by Jay Z's Roc Nation Sports.
The Boston Red Sox outfielder was welcomed by the Roc Nation Sports family via a tweet Monday, joining the likes of NBA MVP Kevin Durant, Seattle Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano, New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia and New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz to name a few athletes.
Cespedes, 29, hit .260 with 22 home runs and 100 RBI this past season, earning his first career All-Star selection. Since the Cuban import was traded from the Oakland Athletics to Boston earlier this year, he can either opt for an extension with the Red Sox or file for free agency next fall.
If it's the latter, it's probably safe to surmise that Roc Nation Sports will help Cespedes leverage the highest-valued contract. After all, the sports agency did help Cano secure a mammoth 10-year, $240 million deal with the Mariners last December.
