How Derek Jeter Hustled President Obama Out of Money

POTUS recalls infamous golf game with ex-Yankees captain.

Derek Jeter is as classy a star athlete that one will ever find in sports, but that didn't stop the five-time World Series champion from hustling President Obama on the golf course.

In an interview with Politico, the president says the former New York Yankees' captain hustled him out of money with the help of Las Vegas Sun owner Brian Greenspun during a fundraiser in Nevada last November.
“He and Derek Jeter stole money from me at Shadow Creek,” Obama joked, referring to Greenspun and the golf course in Las Vegas. “It was clearly a set up, because when we got to the practice range, he was shanking balls everywhere. I said, ‘You play golf, Derek?’ And he said, ‘I just started two weeks ago.’”

Obama added that they gave Jeter a 30-stroke lead, but that he realized that the retired baseball star knew his way around the greens from the first hole.

“We had to take a picture of me handing Derek Jeter money at the end of the game," Obama added. "Despite that, Brian is a great friend."

Throughout his presidency, Obama has had a great rapport with star athletes, especially during their ceremonial post-championship visits to the White House.
